The cambelt (also known as timing belt) opens and closes the engine valves which in turn, allow fuel to enter the engine where it ignites and produces exhaust. It is therefore extremely important that the cambelt isn’t too tight, too loose or worn out as this will impede effective engine operation.

It’s really important to have your cambelt checked regularly – at ALS Motor Group we will check this during your car’s regular service – to ensure that it isn’t worn out, as if it’s left too long, it could snap and this can cause very costly, serious damage to the engine.
