ALS Motor Group offer Class 4 & 7 MOT testing from our workshop on Kingstown Industrial Estate in Carlisle, as a DVSA-approved testing station.

An MOT test is a legally required, annual, test of a vehicle’s roadworthiness, safety, and exhaust emissions. Almost all vehicles in the UK which use public roads and are over 3 years old must have a valid MOT test certificate. Vehicles that do not need an MOT are those under 3 years old, goods vehicles powered by electricity and registered before 1st March 2015, tractors, and some classic vehicles (find exemptions here).

Class 4

Vehicles that require an annual Class 4 MOT test are:

• all cars (up to 8 seats)
• ambulances and taxis
• motorhomes
• dual-purpose vehicles
• quads (max unladen weight 40kg – for goods vehicles 550kg and max net power of 15kw)
• light commercial vehicles (vans) up to 3.5 tonnes in weight
• 3-wheeled vehicles over 450kg
• private hire and public service vehicles (up to 8 seats)

Vehicles that require an annual Class 7 MOT test are:

• commercial/goods vehicles between 3 and 3.5 tonnes in weight
